American Social Media Influencer Penalized Following Large-Scale Electric Bike Gathering on Sydney Harbour Bridge

New South Wales authorities have issued a fine against an US-based online influencer and handed out two traffic infringement notices for reported negligent driving after a large group of electric bicycle users gathered on the famous Sydney landmark during peak-hour traffic on Tuesday.

The Event: An Illegal Gathering

A gathering of approximately 40 individuals riding e-bikes and motorcycles travelled along the primary roadway of the bridge, an area where bicycle riding is banned. The assembly subsequently reversed direction and rode through the downtown area and Haymarket.

"There was a risk of people to be injured and killed," stated NSW police assistant commissioner David Driver on Wednesday.

Law enforcement indicated they did not immediately pursue the group due to safety concerns but rather found the group at a scenic Sydney lookout near the city gardens, at which point they broke up.

Fines Imposed for Content Creator

Later in the week, police announced they had served the American online personality known as the influencer, 26, with two traffic infringement notices for negligent driving (not involving death or prior injury), with a penalty of $562 and penalty points per notice, connected to the bridge incident. Officials noted that inquiries were continuing.

The personality reportedly has more than 3.4 million subscribers on one platform and over 1.2 million on the social media app.

Creator's Response

The content creator spoke with a major newspaper this week following the event gained traction on digital platforms, saying he regretted giving "bike life" a negative image.

"I accept the blame. It was among the safest gatherings I’ve ever seen," he said. "I’m coming here as a guest, and I intend to abide by the rules and standards of the city. When I decided to do a meet and greet it was not meant to include a ride-out, it was just to greet people under the bridge."

"I’m unfamiliar with the city, I am to blame we ended up on the bridge and I had a decision to make: either the group completes the entirety of the bridge and turns around, which is a crime. Or we turn around, essentially, before we’re on the bridge. And I made the decision at the time to go back."

National Debate on E-Bike Regulation

The increase of e-bikes on roads nationwide has prompted growing calls for stricter rules. The federal health minister, the minister, recently said that illegal ebikes were a "complete hazard on the road."

"Kids have done stupid things on bikes since the invention of the early bicycle [but] the harm that are coming into our hospital emergency departments are absolutely devastating," the minister said. "We’ve got to make sure we prevent these things entering the country [and] officers are granted the authority to crack down, to take them away, to crush them, to dispose of them."

The state recorded over two hundred injuries related to electric bikes in 2024. However, in the initial half of 2025, that number jumped to two hundred thirty-three injuries plus four deaths.
