Reports indicate that beloved stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are returning to their iconic characters in the latest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The project is now in the works.
A Major Reunion for Fans
The duo are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. Speculation suggests their cameos will probably be featured in a flash-forward sequence, considering the original saga concluded with their characters settled into family life.
This marks the sixth installment in the global Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a recent book by author Suzanne Collins. It serves as the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Returning to the director's chair is Francis Lawrence, who was behind the majority of the previous films in the series.
The Plot and New Cast
The film's narrative are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, destined to become Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the deadly 50th Hunger Games.
