Mohamed Salah Offers Apology to Squad, Discloses Curtis Jones
Jones has disclosed that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the entire Liverpool squad after the controversy from his public comments.
What Happened
He was omitted from a key Champions League match subsequent to criticising the club and suggesting his relationship with manager had deteriorated.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I'm sorry.’”
The head coach has previously declined to comment publicly on whether he was apologised to from the player.
Team Unity
Jones insisted that the team's response remained positive. “He was his usual self, he had a big smile on his face and everybody was exactly the same with him,” the midfielder explained.
The midfielder also suggested that a competitor wanting to play is preferable. “I get that there are different methods you can express yourself,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just sit out, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
Positive Results
Their results have stayed unbeaten in the matches since the interview fallout. The player is convinced the Salah's words were not designed to cause disruption.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it’s always been from a place of caring,” Jones concluded. “We’re past that now and we’re uniting strongly, getting results and on a positive run.”
