Nigel Farage Claims Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics
The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike shortly after a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “harming young minds” by telling children that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
At a gathering for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his viewpoint on British schools, claiming that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.
“I expect a walkout by educators soon after winning the next general election,” he remarked during a Q&A session.
“They are corrupting young minds. They are telling them to be ashamed of their country. They inform little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They create division, not uniting us. They are feeding this negative culture.”
Reacting to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede rejected the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these immediately upon entering government.
“Farage has built his political career on coded rhetoric and currently, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a fight,” the union leader said.
“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for students and learning.”
Reform, which is leading the polls by a significant margin, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and seems not to have designated an education lead.
However, his comments suggested the group would reform the educational framework. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with education – absolutely herculean. Moreover, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”
He stated that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.
Paying tribute to a conservative activist, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and they should decide for themselves rather than what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”
Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
Farage has accused Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted at school, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash teenagers against Reform.
Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.
National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for children.
At the US event, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the online educational material of the Christian college in the UK. He stated such groups were “part of the fightback”, noting: “I mean this. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of young people to these educational programs. I make that commitment now and I will follow through.”
The institution, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for no charge to every interested learner.”
