Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it's expected for concerns to be raised about his position following a further convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in 12 matches, marking the club's worst run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got a lot of support from above,” Slot commented.

“It's important to change things and get a victory naturally but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “In the normal discussions I sense the belief. However I've not talked to them after this game so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Issues and Player Reaction

Slot lamented familiar shortcomings from his team in their European loss, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a period such as this with performances like these.”

He stated, “But we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And as long as it is removed, we’re always going to fight.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
