The Streaming Platform to Bring a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The most recent action-packed game that players dived into was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for embracing violence and mayhem with the same glee, all while presenting engaging, politically driven narratives. Little surprise that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two producers whose projects have represented all of those things.
What to Expect
Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also parallel the video games' style by having a new backdrop and ensemble in subsequent series.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as lead producers on the series through their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared magnificent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, engrossing, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our partners at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this cherished property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago approved for a second instalment, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new comprehensive agreement with the producer.
“Being able to collaborate alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And along the way, my FX family always encourages me with their ongoing confidence and backing.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every instalment is a take of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a story,” explained Hawley. “To create a big action show that can change from one instalment to the next, while always examining the core of society through this intricate and chaotic viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m excited to partner with Rob and present our common unconventional, ambitious sensibility to the television.”
A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
